Gateway Cup Part One
So last night began the annual Gateway Cup in St. Louis, Missouri. Racers from all over the country came out for night one in Lafeyette Square last night and I was damn impressed with the overall spectator frenzy. There were tons of people there! Granted, I'm sure a lot of them were racers and racers families, but it was still completely badass when I was in a break with 4 to go coming through the start/finish and just riding through a wall of noise and hearing my name blaring from the PA announcer. That was a sweet feeling. OOOOH!!!! here is a picture of me during the break. notice the blurry, streaky picture....that is because i was going FUCKING FAST.
So anyway, there were 125 dudes in my race and it was a fast crit. I haven't gone that fast in awhile and it felt painful, but good. Too bad I don't pack a faster sprint finish. I'm not good enough at keeping gaps filled and i get passed at crucial moments. shit, we'll see what happens today!
The pro 12 race was awesome as well. Dan schmatz and brian jensen and steve tilford were all there and throwing down hard. It was pretty impressive. I don't know if they were going THAT much faster than us, but they did it for 80 compared to 55 minutes. Pretty damn cool.
Anyway, it was awesome to see so many people show up and represent. later.
